PRODUCT DETAILS & SPECIFICATIONS

R22 RETROFIT OPTION • A1

An evaluated retrofit path with oil-return support

R422B is an HFC-based blend developed to approximate R22 performance in certain direct-expansion air-conditioning applications. Its small hydrocarbon component can assist oil return in some mineral-oil or alkylbenzene systems, but every conversion still requires a professional system review.

APPLICATION CHECK

Built for the correct system—not every system

Common compatible work

  • Selected direct-expansion A/C systems being converted from R22
  • Compatible systems previously converted to R417A, after professional evaluation
  • Equipment where piping and oil-return conditions are suitable
  • Service projects supported by a written retrofit procedure

Confirm before ordering

  • Capacity and run-time changes are acceptable for the application
  • Oil return is adequate throughout the actual piping layout
  • The compressor, elastomers, controls and expansion device are compatible
  • A POE oil addition is evaluated for complex piping or large oil hold-up volumes
PROFESSIONAL SERVICE NOTES

Plan the charge before opening the valve

Recover the old charge

Do not top off R22 with R422B. Recover the existing refrigerant completely before conversion.

Charge as liquid

Preserve the formulated blend by removing liquid from the cylinder and metering it according to accepted procedure.

Commission and document

Check operating pressures, temperatures, superheat, subcooling and oil return, then relabel the system.

Compatibility is mandatory

R422B is a retrofit option, not a universal drop-in. A slight capacity change may occur. System design, piping, oil, metering and controls must be evaluated before use, and R422B must never be mixed with R22 or another refrigerant.
